| Cinema Place is a 56,000+ square
foot redevelopment project located in the heart of downtown
Hayward on 2.5 acres at the southwest corner of B Street
and Foothill Boulevard.
There is 12,000 square feet of ground floor shop
space offering a variety of retailers and restaurants
with storefronts along B Street, creating an inviting
and energetic outdoor dining and pedestrian retail environment.
A large Plaza on the B Street frontage opens up to
a Century Theatres multiplex. The 37,000+ square foot,
12 screen multiplex opened in November 2008 and contains approximately 1,800 stadium-style
seats and state-of-the-art sound and projection equipment.
On the second floor there is an additional 5,680
square feet of restaurant space for one or more restaurants
in a high-visibility location with an outdoor dining terrace
overlooking the Theatre Plaza and B Street.
There is a 237 space public parking structure built
by the Hayward Redevelopment Agency on the site to the
south of, and abutting, the theatre and retail building.
There are over 750 additional public parking spaces in
downtown Hayward within easy walking distance that will
also support the project.
The goal of the project is to create an entertainment
and retail destination for downtown Hayward and the surrounding
communities and to help continue the renaissance of downtown
Hayward.
Over 200,000 people live within the primary trade area
comprised of the cities of Hayward, Castro Valley and
parts of San Lorenzo and San Leandro. Construction started
in July 2007 and was completed in October 2008. |
